Samsung Galaxy G Fold 7: The Dawn of a New Foldable Future
When we talk about the world of smartphones, foldable devices seem like a revolution. A few years ago, they were just technology experiments, but now? Now they have become a part of our daily lives. And Samsung, always ahead in this race. When the Samsung Galaxy G Fold 7 was unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event in New York in July 2025, everyone was surprised. Because, it is not just a phone—it is a pocket-sized tablet, a productivity machine, and a fashion statement all in one. As a tech enthusiast, when I held it in my hands for the first time, it felt like the future was in my hands.
In today's article, we'll dive deep into the world of this device—its design, performance, camera, and why it deserves to be your next phone.
Design: Thin, Light, and Irresistible
The biggest problem with the Galaxy G Fold series was its weight and thickness. The Fold 6 was good, but the Fold 7? It's like Samsung engineers dreamed it up in the middle of the night.
It's just 8.9 millimeters thick when folded, and when unfolded? Just 4.2 millimeters! It's even lighter than Samsung's own Galaxy S25 Ultra—just 215 grams. Imagine a book-like phone in your pocket that opens up to become a tablet, but you don't feel the weight at all.
Where's the magic behind it? The new Armor Flex Hinge. It's a water drop-shaped design that spreads stress across the screen, making creases (those crease marks) much less visible. Titanium lattice and 50% thicker ultra-thin glass have been added below the screen, which makes it even stronger.
Samsung has limited the color options, but they are premium: Jet Black, Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, and Mint, exclusive to Samsung's online store.
To me, this design is the key to making foldables mainstream—and now it's truly pocket-friendly.
Display: Big, bright, and immersive
The real fun of foldables is in the screen. The main display on the Galaxy G Fold 7 is 8 inches—11% larger than the 7.6 inches on the Fold 6. The resolution is 2184 x 1968 pixels, and the brightness goes up to 2,600 nits (in Vision Booster mode).
The cover screen is also larger, at 6.5 inches, which feels like a full-sized phone even when folded.
Flex mode is especially different here. When folded at a 75 to 115-degree angle, the screen splits—video or notes on top, controls on the bottom. It's great for watching movies on YouTube or making video calls.
And S Pen support? Yes, the new tip-less S Pen is still there, although all reports were confused about it.
Overall, multitasking becomes a game with this display—email on one side, Netflix on the other.
Performance: Snapdragon 8 Elite's power
Samsung made no concessions when it comes to the processor. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nanometers) is in the driver's seat here. It offers:
- 38% faster CPU
- 26% faster GPU
- 41% faster NPU performance
Than the Fold 6.
RAM is 12 GB (16 GB on the 1 TB storage model), storage is 256 GB to 1 TB. It runs One UI 8 on top of Android 16, with a 7-year update promise.
What does that mean? There's no lag when gaming (Genshin Impact or Call of Duty), and AI features like real-time translation or photo editing are smoother.
Battery? 4,400mAh, the same as the Fold 6, but fitted into a thinner body. 25W wired charging gets you to 50% in 30 minutes, and there's also 15W wireless. It easily lasts through a day of use, especially in low-power mode.
Camera: Ultra-level upgrade
If cameras are your priority, the Fold 7 won't disappoint.
Rear setup:
- 200-megapixel wide (borrowed from the S25 Ultra)
- 12-megapixel ultra-wide
- 10-megapixel telephoto
10-megapixel on the front.
This 200MP sensor is great in low-light, and the stabilization is cinematic with 8K video recording.
Selfies are easy to take when folded, and when unfolded, you can see multiple angles at once in Multi-View mode. Photo editing (like object removal) has become smarter with the help of AI.
Price, availability, and why buy it?
The Fold 7 starts at $1,999 (roughly Rs. 2,10,000) for the 256GB model, which is $100 more than the Fold 6. In Bangladesh, it will probably be around Rs. 2,50,000, but trade-in deals (like Verizon or T-Mobile) can get you up to $1,000 off.
The release date is July 25, 2025, and there are still stocks available.
Why buy it?
If you're a productivity lover—work from home, content creation, or simply a fan of a big screen—then this is perfect. But if your budget is tight or charging speed (not 45W) is an issue for you, then check out the S25 Ultra.
However, the future of foldables is here—and the Fold 7 brings that future right now.
